Recipe Card Caddy

Hi Crafters,
A little 3d project for you today, I love making things like this, when time allows.
I saw a beautiful example on this blog which inspired me to use a cutting file I had on my Cameo for the apron shape and then I set about making it into a folder with pockets. It measures 21cm x 14cm and holds 12 recipe cards with room for more. This post is a bit photo heavy but I thought it needed to be shown from a few angles.

Side on showing the depth of the caddy...

Opened up...

...and the recipe cards themselves out of the pockets.
The papers used were from a couple of digital kits - 'Pinch/Dash' by Just So Scrappy  and  'Cookin' Cookies Too' by Nitwits. The Cutlery were also a Cameo cut file along with the apron shape.
I used a Magnolia lace border die to edge the pockets, gingham ribbon and buttons from my stash and the cute little wooden rolling pin is from The Ribbon Girl, I won a set of them in a blog candy. I also made an oven glove tag using a mittens cut file and some quilted effect paper. You can just see the pair of oven gloves dangling from the side.
Challenges I'd like to enter:
Come & Get It - Ribbon and Bows
Not Just Cards - #11 ATG
TTCRD - ATG
Papertake Weekly - Take Your Pick - ATG

It's just started to snow after a rather heavy hail storm here, it's not laying though so hopefully it will be short lived.
Take care,
Bye for now,

Going Places

Hi Crafters,
It's quite bright and sunny here today which certainly lifts the spirits, although it is also quite cold. We have been very fortunate and missed all the snow that lots of you have been getting, I'm thankful for that. I can't wait for spring to arrive and this leads me on to todays card. I fancied a change from Christmas and wintry scenes so I made this colourful card with a new stamp that arrived yesterday (oops I had a little spend) it was a bargain along with a few others for just a £1 each at Funky Kits.

 Recipe
Image - Going Places by Sugar Nellie (something new)
Pro/flexmarkers
Papers - Up, Up & Away First Edition
Wired green organza ribbon - (Something old, from a bouquet)
Netting Trim
Doily
K&Co layered sentiment sticker
WOC and Ribbon Girl flowers
Sentiment - Waltzingmouse Stamps

She looks like she's having great fun doesn't she? I'm quite happy with how this turned out except for the hair and the camera isn't doing it any favours either, it seems to have picked out tones in the markers that aren't there on the actual card. Never mind, just concentrate on the flowers mmm.
I decorated the inside too to match the layout on the front.

Challenges I'd like to enter:
The Sugar Bowl - #120 ATG
Little Claire's Designs - #53 Bright and Beautiful

Top Tip Tuesday Challenge - Something New

Hi Crafters,
Thanks for joining me here today and I hope that you are well.
Today it is a new challenge at Top Tip Tuesday  - Something New. It could be a new baby card, new home, using new stash or a new technique to you, so come and join in the fun.
Here is my card using some new stash that I won from The Ribbon Girl Facebook page giveaway and a new technique (for me anyway) - hand stitched edges.

 Recipe
Image - Hannah Lynn, Rainbow Sky Mermaid
Pro/Flexmarkers
Distress inks for background - Peacock Feathers, Evergreen Bough & Salty Ocean
Rusty Hinge DI - Seahorse and Starfish
All edges inked with Vintage Photo
Stamp Set - Pink Paisley - Nantucket
Perfect Pearls Shimmer Spray - Turquoise
Guttermanns Top Stitch Thread - Nutmeg
Cheese cloth
Silhouette Cameo Files - Starfish, Seahorse & Under the Sea
Liquid Pearls - White Opal

I had great fun making the background using my distress inks. I pressed the ink pads on to my craft sheet and sprayed some water on to it until the colours merged. Then I laid my backing card on top and soaked up the ink, swirled it about a little and dried it with my heat tool. Using the stamp set I then inked a seahorse, shell, the small starfish, some text and the word Beauty with the same colours of DI and randomly stamped them all over the background. Unfortunately I then covered up the seahorse with the cut-out seahorse :/ Again I sprayed water all over the card and the images began to blur and fade. After drying this again I sprayed it with the Perfect Pearls shimmer spray. When it was dry I stitched around the edges - this is my NEW technique for the challenge and my NEW piece of stash is the cheese cloth.
A peek at the inside where you can definitely see the all of the stamping technique.

Challenges I'd like to enter:
Brown Sugar - #129 Birthday for a Girl
Sister Act - #89 ATG
Creative Fingers - #63 ATG
Country View Challenge - Use Something New To You ( Cheese cloth)
Scribble & Scrap - #36 ATG
Crafty Cardmakers and More - #130 Something Old, Something New (Old - Distress Inks, New - Cheese cloth)
Try It On Tuesday - Add some fabric (cheese cloth)

I hope you like my little mermaid card, she was a lovely image to colour up.
Please take a look at the other DT's creations, they have produced some fabulous makes to get the ideas flowing.
We are sponsored by Hannah Lynn Art

..and the winner will receive a $10 voucher for the store.
Look forward to seeing what you create!

Christmas Card Club Challenge #2 - The Real Reason For The Season

Hi Crafters,
Here I am again with my CCC card. This time the theme was chosen by Christine and she has picked ' The Real Reason For The Season'.
I have gone for a cute look this time rather than the traditional Nativity scene using a fabulous digital download from Pink Gem Designs which creates the whole shaped 3d card.

I printed this on white pearlescent cardstock but I'm not sure that it shows up here. It is a tent fold card and hinges behind the star. The images were cut out, layered up and I added white matt glitter to the lambs for their wool. This side view might give you more of an idea of the layers...

There is a panel on the back to put your message or greeting and it fits inside an 8" x 8" envelope.
Hope you can join in with us for this challenge and get your Christmas cards started for this year, it's a great way to spread the load of all the Christmas cards that we have to make. Please visit the other ladies in the team who have some fabulous inspirational cards on their blogs today, link in the tab above.

2014 Catch Up

Hi Crafters,
Whilst sorting through some of my files on my computer I found a few pics of cards that I had not had a chance to share so thought I would show you now.

This first photo is of a card I made for my husbands' Birthday using a decoupage sheet from Craft Creations but I really liked making the background best. I used a Spellbinders deep embossing folder and inked the cardstock afterwards with black soot distress ink picking up the embossing and then carefully applied Versamark clear embossing ink and clear powder over the raised parts, giving this gorgeous industrial effect.
A close up view to show the embossing.

I thought I would do this again on another card but this time using an X-Cut embossing folder covered with tiny cogs.

Another close up

And in true Monty Python style -  now for something completely different...

... a Wedding Card. I made my own rolled roses with  an MFT die and used a Martha Stewart border punch for the accent piece.

This card was rather fun, inspired by something I saw on Pinterest, I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the spectacles a few times and layered them up to be a sturdy weight and popped them on foam pads.

I'd like to enter this last one in to the challenges at
Come And Get It - Humorous Cards.
Quirky Crafts - #1 Clean & Simple

Well that's it from me today, thank you to everyone who has popped in here recently and left some fabulous comments, I really do appreciate it.
See you all soon,

Lorraine

Top Tip Tuesday Challenge #27 - Keep It Simple

Hi Crafters,
Today I am here to share my DT card for Top Tip Tuesday.
The theme this time is 'Keep It Simple'.
Funnily enough I had made a New Years resolution to try my hand at making more CAS cards as I find them quite tricky and then low and behold both my Christmas Club Card and Top Tip Tuesday Design team challenges were for this theme. I went for a simple Thank You card as we have lots to make after receiving our Christmas gifts.

Recipe
A6 Card Blank
Hero Arts Dot Flower Pattern Stamp
Holographic Embossing Powder
Tim Holtz Distress Inks
(Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed, Festive Berries)
Justrite Banner Die
Justrite 'Timely Banners' Stamp

I love making backgrounds with distress inks and a resist technique and for this one I used Versamark ink and holographic embossing powder on the detailed hero Arts stamp, heat embossed it to give the white sparkly areas and then inked over it with three colours of Distress inks. Buffed off the ink from the embossing and voila - a beautiful background. Then I added the stamped and die cut Thank You banner. Very CAS I think this time.
Join in with our theme at Top Tip Tuesday and be in with a chance to win a $10 Gift Certificate for

Challenges I'd like to enter:
Cute Card Thursday - #354 ATG
Crafty Catz - #260 ATG
Suzy Bee's Bloomin' Challenge - #1 ATG +CAS
Scribble & Scrap - #35 ATG Clean & Simple

Thanks for stopping by,
See you all soon,

Christmas Card Club Challenge 2015 #1 - CAS in Red, Green and White

Hi Crafters,
Hope you all had a wonderful New Year and didn't over indulge too much.
The new year is in full swing now and we have started our bi-weekly Christmas card challenge again and this time it was Carol's turn to choose our theme of CAS in Red, Green and White.
Now I have mentioned before how difficult I find CAS cards and this one filled me with dread but looking back at some last minute Christmas cards that I had made and not had the chance to blog yet, I found this one...

Recipe
Penny Black - Christmas Hat Cat Stamp
Promarkers
MFT Vertical Stitched Strips Die
Britannia Dies - Merry Christmas

I was attempting to create some flat cards for posting when I came up with this design and I think this counts as CAS, well as CAS as I can manage anyway :)

Challenges
CHNC Christmas Extra - January ATG
TTCRD - ATG
ABC Christmas Challenge - Z is for Zebra (Use Stripes)
Suzy Bee's Bloomin' Challenge - #1 ATG +CAS

Please visit the other CCC members blogs and leave them some love (links in the tab at the top of my blog)
I know we have just gotten over Christmas and it seems a bit soon to be making Christmas cards again but making them all year round really helped me last year to have enough cards at the ready when I needed them and not be in the last minute panic as I have been other years. Maybe you'd like to give it a go too?

See you soon,

Lorraine

James Bear 2015 Calendar

Hi Crafters,
I do love James from Lili of the Valley and I've used one of the art pad images to make my easel card calendar.

 Recipe
Kraft card and envelope
Anita's Calendar pack
Dovecraft Krafty Christmas Paper Pad
Lili of the Valley Art Pad
Spellbinders Floral Ovals Die
Ribbon and bling

As you can see from the watermark this photo was taken at the end of 2014 and I still have a few that I haven't blogged yet. :/
I love this paper pad and when I went back to The Range for another they had sold out :( It is a really lovely colour palette on the Kraft background.
Challenges:
Crafty Catz - #260 ATG
Brown Sugar - #127 Bears

Thank you for all the New Years wishes that everyone has sent me, I hope I have been round to you all and reciprocated but if I haven't I would just like to wish all of you THE most wonderful year ahead.

Bye for now,

Lorraine
